SHOCKING:THe Man Behind ICC witnesses intimidation and mass withdrawals
The 55 year old with a towering gait was born in Bududa, Eastern
Uganda and fled from Uganda in 1986 after President Yoweri Museveni came
to power.
He first came to Kenya as a fugitive in the 1980s. He was later
smuggled to London by a company operating in Kenya which gave him a
letter indicating he was to undergo training in the United Kingdom.
He was able to find work in London. He later became a broker in the
negotiations between UN and the Lord Resistance Army (LRA) and ICC
fugitive Joseph Kony. For the 12 years he was the spokesperson for Kony,
he became a diehard LRA apologist and a rabid critic of the Museveni
led NRM government.
“He is said to be working with two judges in the Kenyan cases and a number of paralegals at the ICC who give him information on witnesses”.The then PNU establishment in Kenya incorporated him under former President Mwai Kibaki in shadowy deals. In the wake of ICC, having witnessed what he had done in Northern Uganda and Harare, Jubilee jumped on to him for their dirty work of buying or intimidating witnesses. He is said to be working with two judges in the Kenyan cases and a number of paralegals at the ICC who give him information on witnesses.
To get to The Hague where he is a regular visitor, Matsanga flies to Zimbabwe. From Harare he flies to South Africa, then to London. From London he takes a continental flight to The Netherlands where he does the suspects bidding.
Back in Nairobi he used to stay in a flat owned by a senior intelligence officer but has since moved out to the Parklands area. The self proclaimed International expert on conflict resolution a few years back lured the international community not once but three times on Kony’s willingness to sign a peace pact where he had no express authority to speak on behalf of the rebel leader.
According to the Sudan Tribune, during the Uganda Government and LRA peace talks in Juba, he was arrested at the Juba Airport with a letter from Uganda President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and $ 20,000 in cash. The money was his pay from the international community for his “work” as LRA team leader at the negotiations. The letter showed that Matsanga had been used by Museveni.
Before joining the LRA talks, he was a Public Relations consultant to Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe. Matsanga, however, fell out with Mugabe after he was allegedly tortured by security agents in Harare. Tags:
